Basically, I'm pretty sure there's an auction plugin somewhere, allowing player-run auctions. The second part of this suggestion is to have "rare" items auctioned (possibly wait until later in the server life, so the bidwar isn't only won by donating people or something.). For example, these items could be:
End stone
Hacked enchanted equipment- eg. Unbreakable iron pick, unbreakable fire aspect gold sword etc. (enchanted items that have been hacked to have insane levels. Pretty sure it's possible.)
All the records
Unbreakable items in general (maybe not powerful ones.
Maybe special skills?
